Harry Kane Opens Up: Why a Tottenham Return Might Never Happen

England captain Harry Kane says he’s open to signing a new deal with Bayern Munich and even hinted that his career might one day end in the United States.

The 32-year-old striker admits a Premier League return now feels less certain, even though Tottenham have the first option to re-sign him after his £104 million move to Germany two years ago.

Kane, who has already bagged an incredible 18 goals in just 10 games this season, told reporters:

“In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that.
I haven’t had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they do happen, I’d be happy to talk.
It really depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, everything feels great and I’m not thinking about anything else.”

When asked about a possible Premier League return, Kane admitted his feelings have evolved:

“If you’d asked me when I first joined Bayern, I’d have said, ‘Yes, I’ll definitely come back.’
Now, after a couple of years here, that desire has dropped a bit not completely but who knows? Never say never.”

As for life beyond Europe, the Bayern star said an MLS move could be on the cards but not anytime soon:

“America would be something for later in my career, when I’m thinking about those final few years.”

Kane joined Bayern for an initial £86 million, with a release clause set at £56.7 million for next summer. Tottenham boss Thomas Frank recently said Kane would be “welcome” back and with the England skipper just 47 goals shy of Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record, the temptation will always be there.

Still, Kane seems content in Germany especially under new Bayern boss and former Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany.

“I’ve got this season and another one left on my contract, so there’s no panic,” Kane said.
“I love working with Vincent. He’s fantastic. As long as we’re improving and I’m improving, I’m happy to keep building on what we’re doing here.”

Kane also revealed he’s fine-tuning his diet as he continues his chase for major honours including the World Cup and Ballon d’Or.
